The Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche consolidates its position on the international academic scene, standing out in scientific quality, knowledge transfer, and social impact. <\/span><\/span>

The Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche (UMH) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic and research excellence in the 2016 edition of the prestigious SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). Within the strictly university sector, the UMH ranks among the top 18% of universities worldwide (18th percentile) and is in the top 31% within the European Union (EU-27).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Leadership in Research Quality and Impact: <\/span><\/span>
The UMH’s most outstanding indicator in this edition lies in its capacity for high-impact scientific output. The institution ranks in the top 14% of universities worldwide in research (Research percentile), a metric that evaluates the quality of its bibliometric publications in the Scopus database, the citation of its work in top-tier journals (first quartile), and the level of international collaboration. <\/span><\/span>

Furthermore, within the Ibero-American regional context\u2014which includes institutions in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal\u2014UMH consolidates its position in the top 11%, both in overall research performance and its general ranking. <\/span><\/span>

Innovation, Transfer, and Social Commitment. <\/span><\/span>
In addition to pure research, the SCImago ranking evaluates the impact transferred to the socio-economic environment: <\/span><\/span>

Innovation and Transfer: In the field of higher education in Ibero-America, UMH stands out, ranking 12th percentile, reflecting the strength of its patents and the capacity of its research groups to transfer technology to the business sector. <\/span><\/span>

Social Impact: The university ranks in the top 20% worldwide in the university sector in the social dimension, which measures web visibility, open access presence, and the media and outreach impact of its academic activity. <\/span><\/span>

Prominent Presence by Academic Areas <\/span><\/span>
. At the national and European levels, several UMH disciplines have achieved a leading position in this edition. The Psychology department stands out, ranking 21st in Spain, 99th in the European Union, and 409th worldwide. Also noteworthy are the Social Sciences (69th nationally) and Business and Management\/Accounting (74th in Spain). <\/span><\/span>
